INDIVIDUAL THERAPY IN BOSTON & ONLINE ACROSS MASSACHUSETTS

Awareness is a start. Change happens in experience.

Our work can help you connect with what matters to you, cultivate acceptance of yourself and the things you can’t change, and take the brave steps required to live a meaningful life.

THERAPY

Attachment and relationship patterns

You may move between wanting closeness and pulling away from it. Relationships can leave you questioning your needs, your judgment, or how much of yourself it feels safe to share.

People-pleasing and boundaries

You're used to anticipating what other people need. Saying no may bring up pervasive guilt, fear of conflict, or feelings of failure.

Self-worth and self-trust

You may rely on reassurance or second-guess decisions after making them. Even when life appears to be going well, it can be difficult to feel settled in who you are.

Rumination and fear of uncertainty

Your mind keeps returning to the same question or possible outcome. Preparing for uncertainty can take so much energy that it becomes hard to participate in what is happening now.

Work, identity, and life direction

Whether you’re working excessively or struggling to make it into the office, we’ll explore your relationship with work, the identity you’ve built around it, and what drives the ways you approach your academic or professional life.

Past experiences that remain present

You may want to understand the past while wondering whether revisiting it will help. We can approach those experiences thoughtfully and with clear goals in mind, and won't force this work before you're ready.

MY APPROACH TO THERAPY

We work with the pattern while it’s happening.

A big part of my role is to take notice of shifts (sometimes subtle, other times obvious) unfolding in the space between us. The strategies we use to protect ourselves have a way of showing up in the therapy room, and it’s typical for me to share observations I’m making with you as I witness them.

You might hear me ask about the deep sigh you let out just before recounting an interaction with your spouse earlier in the day. I may gently point out that we pivoted to where you went during Restaurant Week right after you mentioned feeling a lack of purpose in your life. Sometimes, the way you react to my inquiry (“Am I doing this wrong?” “Do I deserve to be here?”) offers us an entire session’s worth of content to explore.

I bring your attention to these shifts to help you become aware of responses you’re having real time. This allows us to slow down, build insight, and identify what strategies for self protection are playing out. Many times, the defenses we’ve built around our suffering end up amplifying it.

Clients who benefit most from our work together come willing to engage, reflect, and explore what emerges between us.

WHAT CHANGE CAN LOOK LIKE

Therapy can help you respond to stress, uncertainty, and relationship challenges with more intention and self-trust.

OUR WORK MAY HELP YOU…

𖥸 Trust your judgment without needing constant reassurance
𖥸 Stay more connected to yourself during conflict (inner and interpersonal)
𖥸 Value your needs as important and set boundaries accordingly
𖥸 Recognize when an old belief is shaping a current decision
𖥸 Make choices based on what matters to you
𖥸 Feel less afraid of the parts of yourself you usually avoid

Sometimes progress arrives as a dramatic breakthrough. Other times, it appears in the pause before your usual reaction, when you realize you have another choice.

BEGINNING THERAPY

We'll start where you are

We'll connect for a free phone consultation. I'll ask you to share more about what's bringing you to therapy and the changes you'd like to see through our work.

The first session

I'll orient you to my process and ask you questions about your symptoms, goals, strengths, and history. We'll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Establishing a plan

We'll spend our initial sessions getting to know each other, clarifying what matters to you, and addressing the patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving you'd like to shift and maintain. This is often where our work begins and develops over time.

BEGIN WITH A CONVERSATION

You don’t need to know exactly where the work will lead.
